tl;dr

Is your Java set to run by default in the same mode (32,64) as your OS?

I would assume that since his computer has 8GB of memory that it would use 64-bit, if it doesn't then the people who made that PC are ripping you off (more than they already are with Windows 8...)

how I check that?
Java not problem
after having a chat with rob on the tekkit server (one of the times where I stayed on for more the 20 sec)
it seems that it might be my connection to a degree
which brings more confusion to the mix :S
